Poll Question
Hey CCF, wheat here. So I'm in my high school's Art Club, and I'm doing the early sketches for a mural that's going to be put up in the hallway. Our sports teams are called the Indians, and I thought I could include an American coin design with an Indian on it, and color it blue and gold (the school colors). So, what design should I choose to use for the school mural? I'll keep this thread updated with sketches and mural designs. Thanks everyone! 😀

Quote: Indian $10. No competition. I would agree with this but, IMO, the $10 Gold Indian Head is not an attractive depiction of an Indian. It looks like the Indian just saw a ghost! Personally, I think the $5 Gold Indian looks more dignified.

Why not the reverse of the 2014 Native American dollar. It is diverse in that it has a male and female on it and being the 2014 year is relevant to this year.

Technically speaking anyway...the only other coins that have actual native Americans on it are the Buffalo nickel and the already mentioned $5 gold coin.....the rest are lady liberty in a head dress

I would choose either the IHC or the Indian $10. I have tried drawing coins before an it is VERY hard. I can't imagine what painting would be like. Be sure to post some pics when it's done!

I would choose Bela Lyon Pratt's design. Personally, it's my favorite from the list.

Indian cent for be my pick. Easily recognizable but easier to paint the head dress in the schools dress than a Buffalo nickel. My favorite one of the bunch is the $5 dollar gold piece but most of your community won't be able to tell where it came from.

OK so, I did the preliminary sketch. I don't have pics because it's in the art room, but I'll try to describe it. I kind of just improvised it, drawing stuff as I thought of it, with some vague ideas beforehand. In the center is a grassy, flowery hill with an arm coming out of it clutching a pencil. To the left of that, I drew a clock dissolving into a river, mingling with the autumn leaves. This part was inspired by Dali's "Persistence of Memory" which I affectionately call "Melty Clocks". On the right I put a brick wall, with all white bricks with a single colorful one. This was inspired by Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2". In the background I had more trees, more plants, the wind, an eagle, the sun, a fighter jet, and a hippopotamus. So anyway, the poll results so far are in favor of the Buffalo nickel, which I'm strongly considering. Thanks all! 😉
