I remember in the past how someone wanted to sell me a shiny half dollar like that for $9 and I turned it down for being too expensive. I think I made a bad deal?

Yes, seller's photo.
@ProAmerica, it depends which year/mintmark it was. I'd buy any MS64 Franklin for 9$ of it looks as lustrous as this one.

1961 is what I think it was, idk the mintmark, but the silver was HIGHER then, so it cost more, like..$7.50 for melt

Pro- in general, UNC pre 1964 coins cost over melt. 1961 is not considered to be rarer than any other year, but still, UNC will have it's premium. 9/7.5$=20% premium, it's up to you to decide whether it worth it. I'd pay 20% over spot for any lustrous UNC Franklin, and 1951-S is considered a bit harder to get/ more expensive.

MS-64 No FBL Des.

Nice looking coin and agree with supgog as to the 51-s being a bit harder to find in real nice shape.

I've recently encountered PCGS certified Franklins with more marks than this one that were graded MS64, so that'd be the floor I'd think, with a good shot at making 65.
