I bought this coin in the late '70's. Never knew its origin. It weighs 11.4 grams.

If it is silver, it looks like an Indian Rupee to me.

I have never seen two of them with the same inscription, but I stand to be corrected if someone knows differently.

Your 'obverse' photo may be upside down. As I say, I don't know much about these coins, only enough to get me into trouble.

From my collection.

Cool stuff! Thank you Topcat7.

Yeah, I'm .925% sure mine's silver. ;) My pix are nowhere near 'color accurate'. I found a site whose owner lists his coin collection - and tons of historical info. Lot's of fun here: http://www.chiefacoins.com/Database/Countries/
What passion!!

My coin looks like the Indian Rupee's below, minted in the 1700's. It also looks similar to Afghanistan rupee's minted around the same time. Unfortunately, I didn't find my coin on the site referenced, but, I'll keep looking.

Thanks again for your help.

The date on the obverse is AH1097, probably the ascension date of the ruler
and on the reverse is 29 (on the bottom, yes it's upside down).

AH1097 started 28 November 1685, this being year 1 add 28 and you get
AH1125 which started 28 January 1713.
