Hello All,

Ive got this coin and can't find an similair. It looks bullion and has an eagle on one side. Wings down and head on the reverse.

I though it was claudio 2 he has aswell some eagle coins. But I can't find this one between.
Diameter is alround 16mm

Was wondering if someone can help me with this piece..

Thats a posthumous issue for Claudius II, the legend is CONSECRATIO.The eagle is rendered in many styles, and a lot of unofficial mints churned out this type, so its not unusual tonot be able to find a similar one.

So I was not that wrong :) I begin to be little better in determination of these older coins. Is there any similair piece you can find? In mcsearch I did not find one. Only with smalle eagle..

Try using google images. Search Claudius II Consecratio, you'll find examples interspersed. You could also try Claudius' wildwinds page to compare the mints. Luckily, this issue doesn't have a V in it - you could run into trouble trying to research any legend with a you or a V, as they were interchangable, and some people will keep te latin V, and others wont.

Thanks ! I've did some reschearch but most are smaller eagles. Or it should be an bigger coin and because the damage it became smaller?
