caesar77 Valued Member United States 356 Posts	Posted 09/26/2014 8:32 pm If I am keeping my coins in a display case, do I need to buy a plastic covering for each? Air tight? Do I need silica? Is there something better as they stuff is cancer ridden. Any suggestions for storage and care? Report this Post to the Staff

I keep most of mine in boxes made to store 2x2 cardboard flips, but I keep them in pvc free flips. I do put silica pacs in the boxes. Report this Post to the Staff
zxcccxz Pillar of the Community Canada 5417 Posts	Posted 09/26/2014 10:42 pm A display case is a good idea if you're a dealer but not so much as a collector. Me? I use standard 2x2 carboard flips for all World, Canada & US coins and plastic Saflips for Ancients and Medieval (Mainly hammered) Coins. I keep my slabbed coins in slab folders. Everything fits comfortably in two standard 3-Ring binders. My less valuable coins are just stored in boxes and I have a drawer for junk silver with dividers to sort by purity. Victor Pillar of the Community United States 905 Posts	Posted 09/26/2014 10:59 pm I put my coins in 2x2 saflips with an insert that has the ID, then I put the flips in 2x2 20 pocket album binder pages and then put the pages into three ring binders. I have several albums for different categories like one for the Tetrarchy, one for Constantine, one for Valentinian and family, one for Theodosius and family etc. Report this Post to the Staff

It's a shadow box with each coin in the bottom half of a 2x2 flip, and the information on a slip of paper in the top half. I use pins to hold them up. It puts a hole in the info flip but I can live with it. I hang them on my wall. If I had anything super expensive I probably wouldn't store it that way though.
