At the Alamo Coin Club show today, I picked up a pair of Australian Pre Decimal notes, for $17.00 US.

G'day, they're both nice examples, and a great price.
in the Australian system, they are catalogued as "R" numbers:
R30 Armitage & McFarlane, 1942~49: I've seen a lot of these coming up in the USA. I suppose they were brought back as souvenirs by the many U.S. servicemen who spent time in Oz in WW2.
R34 Coombs & Wilson, RBA 1961~65. This was the last pound note before decimal conversion in 1966.
The latter signature combination is the longest in Australian history: 1952~66. They span KG6; QE2 pre-decimal; and all of the first issue of decimal notes in 1966.

Very interesting! Thank you Peter.

I have a One Dollar note from '66, with the same Coombs Wilson signatures on it. That's one of the reasons I chose this R34 note. I figured they would be close to each other in time of circulation.

Nice notes ElleKitty. I was looking at the pictures earlier and couldn't figure out the date. Thanks for the explanation Peter THOMAS. Looks like you did good ElleKitty!

To me you got a real bargain. The lizzy note itself would sell for more than you paid through most dealers.
