Thanks to the generosity of a fellow worker, I have filled some holes in my Penny collection. Here they are...

Only need 6 more to have one from each year. I might be able to afford a 1925 one day, but I doubt I'll ever get a 1930.

Graceoutcast, the only ones I need now are 1925, 1926, 1930, 1931, 1937 and 1946.

Does anyone know why they didn't mint any Pennies in 1954?

There is no 1937 either. This is the year of an abdication and a new king. The complete set of 1937 coins consists only of a 1937 crown. The only 1937 pennies produced were patterns.

I used a 1930 English penny to fill my 1930 gap...

Oops! thanks Bigfella. That's one less coin I need.

Barry, that's cheating.

Very nice coins Steve.

I assume many dates aren't too expensive to obtain, while others would require a bank loan.

I have enjoyed collecting the large English pennies, and am sure it would be fun to put together a collection of Australian pennies also.

Gary, a bank loan wouldn't be so bad, for a 1930 penny I would have to sell my house.

1930 Pennies are relatively cheap compared to some of the other pre decimals - their appeal is that they are rare and they are icons for the hobby and for investors.
They haven't done much price wise for years and there are always one or two available every auction - 20 grand gets a reasonable coin.

Choose your first/next 1930 Aust Penny from list as follows:

VG - 20k
F - 28k
VF - 50k
EF - 110k
aUnc- 150k
Unc - 220k
chUnc - 325k
Gem - 500k
Proof - 750k(plus)

At first glance may look fairly pricey. The good bit is they're only talking Australian dollars here

But that's terrible! Every time I get an Australian Dollar, it gets added to my collection. I'll never be able to pay Australian for a coin. ;)

On the bright side, one of the other Oceania countries issued a commemorative to the 1930 penny. I think it was Tuvalu? That might do for a filler better than an English penny.

Sorry, cannot choose from GoodAsGold's list. There are no unc or better 1930 pennies, although there are 6 proofs.

Here we go, guys ... how do you like my ridgy-didge, dinky-die, you-beaut ozzie fake 1930.
Reverse fairly convincing, but obverse possitively too good to be true! What do you think? http://users.chariot.net.au/~villai...Page_34.html
