I am interested if anyone can read what it is written on medalion. In antique shop they told me that it is arabic writing.
This medalion was given to my mother (53) by my grandmother (79). Grandma said that it more than 100 years old and it was given to her by her father when she was young. Medalion dimensions are 1cm radius, and 1mm tin. p.s My gredma is living on south of Serbia all her life.
A better picture would be nice. Looks like a gold coin from the Ottoman Empire. Can't make out the mint but if I am right it is dated AH1223//23 which would make it a coin of the 23rd year of Mahmud II. Postscript, it would have been minted 1829/1830. PPS: You probably know that at that time Serbia was part of the Ottoman Empire.
