I have this coin and I cannot identify it. I want to say Greek, but why does it have Arabic lettering? I am probably wrong on both counts.
Perhaps someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction, please?

Thank-you (in anticipation)

It's still an interesting question, given the whole background of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and it has an interesting answer.

20% of the population of Israel are "Arabs" - Muslim and Christian Palestinians who have agreed to live under Israeli citizenship. They do not speak Hebrew, but most of them do speak Arabic. Both Hebrew and Arabic are official languages in Israel; English is not. English is placed on the more modern coins of Israel, primarily for the benefit of tourists.

Hello, Sap,

Now if I had paid attention in school, I would have known that.

Hang on. I don't think there was an Israel when I was at school.
