I found this 1989 P Lincoln Cent. The reverse looks fine but the Lincoln statue in the memorial isn't there, only a trace of the knees is visible. I have seen some other cents where there is some kind of distortion and the statue isn't very clear, specially in the early years of the zinc era. This one looks very clean, no scratches, bubbles or extra metal covering the statue.

Does any one know about this type of error?

Interesting for sure and I've seen similar but look at your first photo and see if you don't see a faint body outline.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have looked at the coin with a 20X magnifyer and also with a 30X. Can't see anything other than remnants of the knees, the left side larger than the right one. The pictures I posted were taken with a microscope that has a 150X capability.

Likely due to an over-polished die. Common but cool looking. Great eye!

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the die was polished as all the ceilings, except for bay 11, were removed, and polishing lines are visible in some bays. But, wouldn't the knees be gone the same way the rest of the statue was removed by polishing? You wouldn't think that the mint worker was in a playful mood while doing his job?
