What are opinions on this set? Will it retain it's issue price or is Mintage too high? I haven't bought any fractional sets and would to hear what collectors think of this one. Does being in used make it more unique? I'm not looking to flip, but wonder if I should wait to get it for less on secondary market? I don want to buy mint direct and find out I could get it cheaper elsewhere!

In my opinion, being unique and nice - 1oz enameled and the Leafs on other coins struck with "low relief", will not help in long term to the set on the secondary market and among collectors. And not only due to the mintage. Too frequently fractional set issued recently and the mintage.
Which was the set prior 2013? I think 2003 (except 2004 Fox and 2005 Lynx). And now it 2013, 2014, 2015...... not special item any more.
Now, take a look at Fox and Lynx (one of my ever favorite sets). Yes, they seems to be sells now for 150% from issue price, but still: they just following the silver prices. More than year ago they were available for $160-$220, now for $120-$180.....
So the same will be with the recent sets. I keeping the 2013 with young Queen, and currently will get / got the 1oz's from the rest.

I have bought each of the silver sets from 2013 & 2014 and they seem to retain their value. The mintage is the same, however price seems to fluctuate somewhat depending on demand.
I believe that they are an attractive keepsake and you likely won't find them cheaper elsewhere. At just under 2 ounces, you're not likely to see the set sold for bullion price.

I remember last year's fractional sets were discounted at dealers.
I don't know why they keep putting them out each year since they are basically the same thing. The uniqueness is beginning to fade. How many fractional sets do you need anyway?

Too many keepsakes will make it ordinary. And not really "movable" if need to sell. One of examples, I saw the lower and higher...but you sure will not want to sell it for $200 minus fees : http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2013-Canada-...em1e8e7e470e

The Royal Canadian Mint is trying to "reinvent the wheel". High price and high mintage. Most of these sets you can find for less than issue price.

Well Pocket Change, I will not be getting this set. As MoneyPenney asked "...How many fractional sets do you need anyway?..." My answer: A fraction of what the mint has released in recent years.

Great answer, Numoosey, I was wondering what people thought of the incused & red enamel feature? My rep seems to think these features make it unique & desirable. I don't own an fractional sets yet, I guess I' may wait until someone posts a live photo. I really like the fox & lynx sets and have been following the prices. Those are very nice looking. Have all the other sets been maple leaves ?

I placed an order with my rep today and asked him the same question.
I doubt whether he's even seen the product lineup, but I've been assured that there's no problem with sending them back at the expense of the Mint.
Funny, I've never had to send anything back to them but won't hesitate if it's not what I expected it would be.
Still think the sets are a good purchase and they are different enough from each other. Head over to the Circle M Ranch PC 50 and search for fractional set. Check the archived items as well.
What I'm not sure about is the decision to enamel only one coin and it's effect on the whole set. In the past I believe the other sets had identical $1-$5 coins.
I can see some collectors breaking this set up now, when it should really stay together.

I would understand, if the coins have design that make all together complete picture. And when it identical........yeah, it nice to have a set, but not less nice to have only the 1/4oz if for example you 1/4oz's collector. Btw, with this set, I would prefer probably incusive design also on the 1oz - it more sharp, but might be enamel is well done (like "The Shield" or "Maple Impression" )

I picked up one of the Reverse Proof 25th Anniversary Fractional Sets a while ago on ebay. They are graded by NGC and 3 of the coins are PF69 while 2 are PF70. What makes them different, I think, is that the NGC serial numbers are sequential, like this was someones set that was graded all at once and not broken apart. I like that. I also think the coins are VERY beautiful!
