My only first thoughts are that unless a coin has some value the shipping costs might be prohibitive, and that shipping an expensive raw coin might be a no no. I have a couple of slabbed ones that I was considering selling using the program.

I think xshift used to use it.

If I'm right, I saw many coins I wanted but I never bid because the Global Shipping Program costs were so prohibitively high.

I now don't bother looking at any ebay seller that uses it.

I don't see any consistency in the way the UK Customs calculates import charges but what really hurts is being charged £4 import tax (VAT) and a Royal Mail handling fee of £8.

Another point is that it's expensive even if no tax is payable.

For example,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LARGE-PEN...351180771275

At the opening bid amount, no VAT tax or duty would be payable in import to the UK but the Global Shipping Program seems to ignore that fact.

Yeah, I saw some of the example shipping charges and they were CRAZY expensive.

.....another way for ebay to make more money.
