I've been wanting to add a Kushan empire coin to my collection for some time now, so when I saw this one for under $10 I snached it up. The obverse isn't that great but it has a nice reverse and the coins is easily attributed.

Kushan empire
AE Tetradrachm
King Kanishka I
128-150 AD
Obverse: King standing facing right, legend no visible
Reverse: Four armed Shiva
Tamgha (monogram) at left
26.5mm x 17.2 grams
Gobl 781

Here is some information on Kanishka from Wikipedia.

When you say "wanting to add ...", do you want more of those or do you want to collect one coin from each region/dynasty?

Nice coin and typical obverse for later Kushan Emperors.
A nice site with images of Kushan coins is:

(You should be able to determine if that link is okay.)

Myself have around a dozen Kushan coins, all but one with the standing king obverse. The last one is:

Kushan Empire
AE Tetradrachm
Soter Megas
~55-105
Taxila mint
Mitchiner#2928+

Obverse: Diademed, radiate bust right, holding sceptre - behind head tamgha
Reverse: Mounted horseman, walking right - in front tamgha

(And the inscription on the reverse {let me latinise} BASIL[EU BASILEVON SO]TER MEGAS)

Actually I have a few more on the way. I like to try an get at least one if not more from each ruler of the empire.

Nice! My first (and one of few) local purchases was a Kushan bronze. I was so thrilled to have found an ancient coin locally!

At World's Fair of Money in August I bought a couple more "just because" :) I'll take pictures of them and post them here this weekend.
