Hi, I found one of these yesterday and was wondering if it's worth anything. To my knowledge, no 1981's were issued for circulation. This coin has some toning as if its been in a set (Mint set). I looked online and saw that this coin is considered a key date in the series, and some other sites say it's only worth face value.

To say the least, I'm a bit confused. I can't figure out how to post pics.. so sorry. It's an MS coin.

Thank you.

Here is an idea of value. Also check e-Bay sold values. http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...icesgd.shtml

It's certainly worth more than face value to most collectors with any interest in the series. The problem with SBA dollars is that supply exceeds demand, even for the key dates. The series simply isn't popular.

Personally, I'd be willing to fork over $2-3 if I needed one to complete a set.

This.

I also forked over the $ for a 1981 mint set for the convenience of getting the dollars from all 3 mints at once. I collect them too; done with the business strikes, and slowly working on the proofs now.
