The Royal Australian Mint has announced a coloured circulating Remembrance Day $2 coin, I was wondering if anyone has a picture of the design or knows what it looks like! Looks like colour printing in circulating coinage was a success from last years coronation one!

The Royal Australian Mint have announced that we will soon be seeing another coloured 2 dollar coin, this time a green one! A Remembrance green $2 coin is being minted for circulaton to add to the ANZAC centenary coin program. The reverse design will include a dove with an olive branch in it's beak inside a representation of the suns rays -a series of green coloured circular stripes. The obverse the standard Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

That's something to look forward to. I only saw one 2013 purple coronation in the wild and that was out of 2 million. Do hope they press a few more new green ones.

The circulating version of this coin is for sale all over ebay at the moment. Despite having the same 2 million mintage as the 2013 coin they look like being much easier to source. The mint have sold dealers rolls just like they did with the 2014 $1. Probably won't see many of them in our change though.

Yep! Ordered some rolls to be mailed end Nov.
Really happy with $78 per roll mailed.

MobOfRoos why has the mint decided to sell rolls to dealers? Also, is there any way to obtain rolls from the mint without being a dealer?

Saw a PAIR of 2013 Coronations next to each other, in an ALDI cash drawer in western Sydney. I managed to get BOTH of them!
How many 2014 Remembrances to they intend to issue into circulation?

I don't think they will just be sold threw coin dealers.
The mintage is 2 million same as the 2013 coronation $2 coin that means there's far to many to just be sold threw dealers hence the coins being sold on cards as well as rolls. I thinks at least half will go to circulation just like the coronation coin did which I have quite a few of .
2 million is far to many just for collectors there isn't any where near that many coin collectors in Australia.
But who knows the current gov like money.

No! I do not think that 2 million of these coins are going to go around for all the coin collectors for a couple of reasons. A lot of these coins are going to stay in their rolls + dividing the coin numbers into their gradings is going to shorten the numbers of collectable coins as well. ebay prices are still in good shape for the 2013 & 2012 releases. There looks to be a good number of buyers lurking about. The 2013 release of the bag of 6? coins for the collector does not seem to of slow down people looking for quality coins in this area.

On one of the forums I saw an email from the RAM to a dealer about ordering them and it appeared that they would only provide them to registered dealers. Its purely speculation but my guess of why they are doing this is that the RAM struggled with the interest in the 2013 Coronation $2 so for future coins they have decided to "out source" distribution to the coin dealers. It has the added advantage of keeping the coin dealers on side so that they can push some of the other RAM products.

This can become a "Two edged Sword", Downies have these at pre order for $99 this is almost a 100% mark-up because they would be getting the 25 coin rolls at face value A vast majority of Aussi collectors noodle to get their collections, the very fact that the new issues are exclusively supplied to dealers will eventually destroy the collector base in this country
