Based on the pics I'd give it a 63/64 grade. It might be better, or worse, in hand. From the appearance it appears to be nice, original and most importantly ----- UNCLEANED!
I have bought and sold hundreds of Texas halves over the years and the numbered of cleaned coins on the market far outweighs the uncleaned specimens. That is a sad fact as it is a beautiful coin.
The 1936 coins are from the Centennial year and they are one of the best strikes of the years they were minted (1934-1938). The hardest year to find with a good strike and luster is the 1938 coins. Most of those I see are dull and washed out.
On your coin, the differences in toning is probably due to storage. One side may have been exposed to a high sulphur content paper while the other side may have been exposed to just the air. Temperature and humidity plays into it too.
It is a nice coin and if you like it is all that matters. We have all at one time or another paid too much for something we like.
