I feel that someone must have come across something like this Ancient coin and they could help me find out what it is.

The legend looks like (Delta) HEIT(?).

The coin is AE19-20 (x4 mm), and weighs at 9.2 gm

Can't help. Beneath the horse? appears to be E and either A or Lambda, three pellets before.

The reverse has been taken at a slightly different angle and looking at the second picture, there appears to be a letter before the Delta.
This is followed by H and possibly E or Sigma then possibly I and I think there is another letter at the end. It seems very crude.

The portrait on the obverse could be absolutely anyone.

I have no idea!

P.P. You and me both.

I am hoping someone with better eyes than mine can read (interpret) the legend and give me something to work with.

But thanks.

The horse and rider is a motif often seen on coins of the Macedonian Kingdom, that's where I would start my search.

When you look at http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/gree...essos/t.html

Yours looks closest to Moushmov#1527 with the way the Epsilon Lambda is positioned (yours is a better example though) while 'Topcat7's matches well with Moushmov#1527.1, just the picture of the obverse has to be rotated 90 degress clockwise.

Hi, echizento.

If you go to Wildwinds and under Greek enter 'Odessos' and choose 'Odessos, Thrace' you will be taken to a reference page that has 'Moushmov 1527.1 (See photo)

This coin is the same as mine, but Moushmov 1527.2 is not.

I cannot cross reference with sear as I cannot find SG 1679 on Wildwinds. They have 1678 and 1680, but I cannot locate 1679, there.
