I have this 1876 gold dollar, I started a date set and bought this in 2002 as a regular NGC MS64, I don't know what designations they used at the time it was graded but after a while I sent int in hoping for a PL or STAR designation and was shocked when it came back DPL*.It's the only 76 DPL and there are many DPLs in the series to begin with, so I can't find any value. It's also from the Garrett Collection, which is nice. It's by far the best coin I have.
A couple pf dealers I emailed said DPLs aren't that big of a deal, since with small mintage coins there would be many, but there really aren't.
There are proofs that are worth a lot, I don't think it would be in that category but still, I wouldn't trade this thing straight up for an MS65,Thanks in advance and this looks like a nice place

Well...it is the only one graded 64 DPL by NGC AND it has the Garrett name attached to it....SO.....I have NO IDEA! Others with better knowledge of this issue will surely chime in....

Golly. How do you estimate the value of a coin with no peers? I'm going to throw a gut estimate out there of around $3500. More at auction wouldn't surprise me but less would.

Great looking coin from what little I can tell. No way I would trade that for a MS65 either.

Nice cherry pick there a decade ago. Good work.

Got any better pics?
