I was wondering how much this coin would be worth. I was looking some thing up about it and I read that the 1895 dollar is worth very much because it has no mint mark. So I looked at my dollar and I couldn't see a mint mark over my O.

Sorry, but it's not worth much. It's a common date. I'm not a Morgan expert and it's kinda hard to pin point the exact condition of your coin, but I would say that it's worth around $30.

Welcome to Coin Community, ExecOdin. The 1895 Dollar with no mint mark, minted in Philadelphia, is valuable because none of the 12,000 minted seemed to have survived. Nobody's ever seen one minted for circulation - only Proofs. The 1886 with no mint mark, on the other hand, had a mintage of almost twenty million pieces. It is one of the very most common Morgan dollars, and not worth much more, except in almost-perfect condition, than the value of the silver it contains, about 0.9oz.

Yours appears to have seen a little circulation, and is likely worth in the $12-15 range.

Looks like Superdave and Amazon already helped you out with your question, so I will just try to add a little on where to find this info yourself. In the left column of this forum you will see links under the Navigation area. Just click on US coin facts, http://www.coincommunity.com/coin_facts/ , and you can start checking out some great info this forum provides. From there, you can get an idea of the grade as well, and look at completed auctions and such even on ebay to get a rough idea of pricing. As Dave pointed out, they had 19 million plus minted, so this is a pretty common coin.

Oh, and I forgot my manners, welcome to the forum!!

Ah well I just kind of stumbled onto this coin. My step mother has had it in her purse forever in a tiny package labeled "1922" so yeah that was odd when I saw the dates were different.

Was hoping I would post this and hear "Oh well thats the ultra rare coin that has no mint because the president got drunk and accidentally sat on the machinery making only 7 of these coins." You know something crazy like that making it super rare, but oh well. Thanks guys.

Correction...SUPER DAVE.. silver content about .73 oz per Morgan dollar making this coins melt value about $9. Your coin is in AU condition and worth no more than $15 in today's market.Welcome to the forum!
