I was informed by a dealer that decimal prices are going way down from 2 years ago curious why

They haven't hit bottom yet IMO.
It's simply a matter of supply and demand, too many coins and too few buyers.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Depends on what you are selling. We just had a great show at the Portland PNNA show. I would not be so negative on the coin market. Good coins are still finding homes. That said if you have the usual ho hum stuff that most Canadians accumulate,yup the market sucks.

Yup, agree with DBM. Don't see anything that will change the trend either.

I wonder how the large coin auctions will survive with their premiums?

We need more avid collectors willing to spend a little... but yes I agree with pacific coin on this one, not only are the rare coins selling but they are selling at or around what they should be getting.

Yes the 'average' circulation coin 'average' price has dropped noticeably over the last 2 years. Primarily because of the recession and the drop in PM prices after that IMHO. Seems to have levelled out this year though. Maybe bottomed out. Maybe a bit of a dead cat bounce. NCLT markets are still heading down though.
