Hello everyone,

Anyone in here live in Oakland or the Bay Area? Would you please refer/recommend me some good/reliable coin shops in the area.

Thanks.

It's not right next to you but it's definitely driving distance. The only two dealers in this area I go to are Mac's Coins in Sunnyvale (408) 732-8575 or Treasure Island in Palo Alto (650) 855-9905. On the second one don't be turned off by the hokey name. He's a stand up guy and they grade conservatively.

Antioch Coins at 610 G Street in Antioch, run by a guy named Dale, has been there about 20 years, very knowledgeable collector and dealer. Until I moved away, I bought everything from ancient Greeks to Morgan dollars from him. His shop is a bit eclectic, but most good coin shops are.

Over the years I've been in several....a nice VF 1938-D half from Town & Country in Palo Alto (before the price went way up), a miscellany of oddballs from Falcone in San Jose, and a couple of months ago I went up to the holy grail in Santa Rosa - Jack Beymer (I was selling). I also picked up some nice low grade s mint Half Dimes recently from a dealer over on the west side of town - Dons Village Coins.

Problem with Jack Beymer, well really not him as a dealer, but rather me, is that his stuff is well out of my price range. But sure is fun to make an appointment and pop in there. Santa Rosa is a nice town to spend a Saturday afternoon also.
