I recently achieved powerseller status on ebay. I sell allot of record vinyl and coins low value silver coins. I have a gold ducat to sell and a krugerand. What would I do if someone said you mailed me the wrong item? Item was never received? They return one of my items but it's not my original item but something else? Or any other scam that I didn't mention?

How would a seller best protect himself I imagine I would use signature confirmation and postal insurance on a high dollar coin?

Can anyone offer any input?

Are the coins graded? If the Krugerand is simply being sold as bullion, you might consider just selling it to a local coin store for a few dollars below spot value and saving the ebay / paypal fees.

If not sure of numismatic vs. melt value, post pictures here first.

If you are worried about the unknown, ebay is probably not the best place for you to sell. In over 15 years of selling on ebay I've never had an issue selling on ebay, I insure the items and check out the buyer's feedback nothing more and nothing less.

The kruggerand is a PF 70 so it's actually worth higher than spot

If you're really finicky, you could videotape yourself sealing the coins into the package, have tracking, have insurance, and/or have signature confirmation.

Yep, that was my thought also. Record packing the coin, and just make sure you have signature confirmation, and you'll be fine.
