Hi all,

My wife picked up this bar from our local coin shop and I can't find it on ebay which really surprised me. I then googled for fake 2001 bars and didn't find anything there either.

Have you ever seen this bar? It is 4 troy ounces on my scale, and passed the magnet test. However, I wonder if it fake since I can't find any for sale or find it on google.

Any help would be appreciated. They just charged her like they would any generic round.

Thanks in advance.

Is it silver and your color is off, or possibly is it a copper bar?

The color is off. It indicates on the bar .999 silver. The front is pretty toned, while the back (probably from being in the case) looks more au.

Joe, you are my hero.

How did you find it? I had googled so many things, and was pretty sure it was Lewis and Clark. I didn't realize the two women fanning the two guys, lol. I looked up the real note and wish we still used that bill today.

I really like the toning and appearance. It isn't a proof quality, but isn't too bad either. I think it is a great piece for the price and think this company needs to team up with a major online seller who could move product. The serial number on mine is 115, so I doubt they have sold very many, especially given I couldn't find it on ebay.

Again, thanks Joe.

Glad I could help. I've found that image searches are most helpful for this type of thing. I typed the following search query into Bing and luckily it came up near the top.

1901 10 dollar bison currency silver 2001

For a minute I was worried that you had one of the Buffalo Tribute Certificates which are only silver leaf but yours says .999 fine silver and they don't.

They are neat notes. Some scans of my 1901 $10 Bison Note. Not very high grade but its mine!

Thanks for the post. I am going to try an pick up one of those bills today as well (if they aren't too expensive). Given I grew up in Montana, I am a big Lewis and Clark fan. In fact, went to kindergarden at Lewis and Clark Elementary.

Take Care
