I came across this listing for consecutive 1954 $50.

How can they be BOTH Modifed AND Devil's Face?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/6-Consecutiv...em19f5514232

The seller is either misleading people or ignorant about the bills

Not to mention asking $2000 for 6 consecutive Modified 1954 $50 UNC is way too high.

Book value (according to my 2010 Haxby catalogue that I just got yesterday for cheap, I hope it's not too outdated?) is just $1500.

Putting Devil's Face in the title is kinda misleading, but people should do their homework too before buying anything, especially if it's expensive.

Its probably just the way he worded it, but the price is very expensive
for $50.00 notes. the link posted brought me to a posting of 6 1954 $50
notes

devils face notes generally derrive a premium... The seller here may be just very literal.... the notes were orginally printed and soon thereafter called devils face... as a result by the end of the year the re-ran the print but modified the notes with the details in the hair...

So calling the note a modified devil's face note.. In my opinion is still correct

I believe it was in 1956 that they modified the notes, to the new hair style.

it is either devils face or modified , but not both.
the listing is misleading. Once it is modified, it is no longer a devils face.
as simple as that!

There is not a single DF note in that set.
halfdollardan, once you have seen a DF note, you will know what it looks like and where to look for it.
