i cannot attempt to attest for the authenticity of the coin or the holder but I do not like the ONLY method of obtaining the coin being a "face to face" pick up in Bulgaria.

Talk about the chance of a couple of gunmen waiting for you outside the "bank of your choice".

This coin belongs at a major auction house and the fact that this is the chosen path to sell it as well as what is written in the listing is disturbing to me. Pass.

Dave,
That's a good link. I didn't realize how much such an obscure variety in this series can bring. I will never look at an 1873 nickel the same again.

Should a CCF member want to buy it, I will be more than happy to pick it up for you should you want to pay my expenses!

No, unfortunately. WAY out of my budget.

The auction details of this coin seemed suspicious to me. I do remember the thread SsuperDdave references and this does seem to be the same coin. I didn't recognize it.

A definite rarity!
Rest in Peace

Will be interesting to see what happens with the sale. Local pick up might limit the number of buyers. Might do better consigning to a trusted soul over here.

color me dumb

And I even commented on that thread when it happened.

Well, A) I cannot afford it and B) even if I could the trip to Bulgaria would add some serious cost to the coin investment.

Good for him that he got it graded. We never figured out what he paid for it. I am curious about that.
