Reported to local USPS (Olympia main PO) who will be sending the report to the Postal Inspectors in Seattle.

An ebay package was received which had been cut open in transit and the coin removed. The package was resealed with some type of dark brown glue and delivered to a locked apartment (multi-unit) mailbox on 20Oct.

This was the ordinary bubble wrap mailer, uninsured, value around $56 (an ordinary Morgan $1, nothing special, but with a historic USCG photo certificate).

The shipper reports this is the 2nd theft of a package s/he has sent from NC to the Northwest recently.

It's a sad day when you can't trust the mail service to stay honest.

They closed the main sorting facility here in Kinston, N.C. and moved it to Fayetteville, N.C because theft was horrible. It was so bad that Game Fly and Netflix both refused to send games and movies to area zip codes because they would never reach the destination. We had several non-numismatic packages show up to the house empty, especially during the few weeks preceding Christmas. In general the USPS is just down right lousy.
