Decided to post a thread about this coin show and was wondering if anyone else would be there. Very excited for next weekend, I will be there in the afternoon on Saturday, not sure about the time yet. I made a budget of $100, think I might buy a nice old silver coin. Any tips for a first timer? I went to a coin show with my grandfather a long time ago, and I can't even remember what it was like. From videos on YouTube I think I may be overwhelmed with all the booths and coins, it will be a hard choice to make.

Going to attend Thurs and Fri. Finally decided to make this a 2 day trip. Honestly, 3 days would have been ideal but I will take what I can get. EXTREMELY EXCITED!

I'll be there at opening time on Friday. I generally get in at 10AM and out by 1PM. I find (or don't) what I want then scoot.
For a first timer I STRONGLY suggest you just browse the floor for an hour or so before you get serious about buying something. And take notes on where you saw something you'd like to revisit. I lost out buying a coin I REALLY wanted because I couldn't find it again after doing some more browsing.

I did not realize the OP said he was attending on Saturday afternoon.
I strongly suggest you attend Saturday MORNING.

I will be there Thursday for a few hours, I am thinking of trying cherry picking some morgans, either in ocean city Saturday or Baltimore Thursday I will be trying to pick up the last franklin I need, the 1955, 6 Washington quarters I need leaving me needing only the 32d and s, then I will go back to morgans, I have about 65 different date and mintmarks, I will be looking for a few of the ones I need

Some suggestions on timing of attendance based on my observations over many years of attending this show:
As a retail collector, Thursday is a bad day to attend. The majority of the dealers on Thursday will be engaged in dealer-to-dealer wholesale transactions and will by and large ignore the collector customer. Many will not even have their coins out for display.
Friday is the best day to attend. Nearly all of the dealers will still be there and actively selling coins to collectors.
Saturday morning is 2nd choice. By lunch on Saturday a large number of dealers will be packing up and heading home ... having achieved their wholesale and retail sales objectives.
Forget about Sunday ... I don't even know why it is scheduled. The bourse will be a ghost town.
I will not be attending this year ... away on vacation.

I will be there Thursday at opening time. Did not realize some dealers do not put out their stuff till Friday! May have to adjust for future shows. Very excited anyways, will be picking up some mint sets to work on my modern uncirculated sets (yeah, I bust them up!), some uncirculated Washington silvers (need a few early 50's dates to complete the 50 - 64 set) and various other odds and ends (haven't been able to find a 2009D DC quarter out of circulation!) I'll be keeping my eye out for a nice 1914D lincoln, I only need that and the 09SVDB to complete my set.

Thursday is not the ideal day, we usually go on Fridays, I am retired and can go either day but the friend I go with has to go on Thursday this time, we try for Friday's but it does not always work, ocean city show is not too bad, not as many dealers and prices are higher but not too bad, new castle has one in January, that one is really nice even though it is small

The earliest I can get there is 12:00, hopefully everything goes well. I am going to bring a pen and some paper to jot down coins and booth numbers to check out. I thought it was a funny coincidence that this coin show happens to fall on my bday weekend. Can't wait!

I will be there with a friend and my son when the doors open Saturday morning. Some good advice has been posted concerning the show, especially about jotting down dealer table numbers. It is easy to get turned around and sidetracked in the convention hall. Also, check out the Whitman section/area, they were giving out gift bags containing books and supplies during the March 2014 show.

Necer149, I will be there on Saturday as well, maybe we'll see each other on the bourse floor. The Whitman Expo is always a great show.
