I am so happy right now! I went out for a hunt today after having a pretty bad day at school, but I won't go into details for fear of seemingly inappropriate comments, but enough of that. I found a 1943 Silver Merc! Got a nasty scratch across the front(old scratch), but I'll keep it either way. Oh and also a nice marble! The first two finds were the ones I wanted to find all this time from the house foundation, a marble AND a silver coin in the same hunt! I'm in heaven!
Rest in Peace

Glad to hear you found stuff. I went digging this week and all I found was glass -- (sigh) -- but I've had better days and it's ridiculous how happy it makes me to find some old nickel or something.

If you have any older parks where they have pavillions or picnic areas, hit the trashiest spots...we just dug two nice old Barber dimes at less than 4" deep. Most detectorists avoid trashy areas, but I've dug DOZENS of old silvers from spots like this. Just remember...low and slow.

Good job on the silver! I also found a '43 merc recently. No better feeling. Unless it was a Gold Double Eagle! I guess we can dream
