Noticed this nickel had a lot going on with it. obverse, crack on shoulder. Lots of what I assume are die cracks on the lettering and pendant of necklace. The reverse has what looks like a melting date, the same cracks on lettering and on left leaf, the beavers tail and both edges of water lines. It may just be easier to list whats right with this one.

2001P "white" coins have a lot of these weird things going on. I think the mint haven't fully got the hang of using MPPS yet.

I think SlurExe97 is right, I think it's a plating issue due to inexperience in striking these coins rather than a die issue. Someone will have to study these and see if there is a progression indicating deteriorating dies.

Wow, great insight. I figured it wasn't too rare but thought it was a interesting coin and worth posting. Nice pics pennyman, I'm having trouble with close ups. Yours look like the Regina has warts, lol

I've seen well over a hundred of these and have compared quite a few to each other and I believe its a die problem for too many reasons. But I'm not an expert and I didn't catalogue anything so DBM your right that would be a good project..for someone.

I find that alot of coins from 2001 on have tons of trails, dimples, and extra metal around the legend. I found out the challenge is to find one that has none for the album. Yours looks like it is on the extreme end, nice find for the error album.
