I took apart a couple Prestige sets because the cases were in bad shape. I've listed all the coins but I'm keeping this one back until I know what I have...

I haven't seen a die clash around the "C" of "Canada" like that before and wonder if it is one, or something else? Also, what's going on in the field?

same pic...one is just cropped. I used super-macro so some is out of focus, but the in-focus parts of the coin have the areas in question.

Thanks for any help!

Aha - So, an impaired lacquer penny from the prestige double dollar set. It also looks like it was struck through thread (bottom of stem). Also, what about the die clash (if it is one) around the C of Canada.. Or, perhaps that is where the lacquer problem originated on the field.

Thanks!
Steve

Hey steve123...one of these days I am going to try thinner on one of those 2 pennies on that other thread.. SPP even offered to send me one to experiment on but I got them in a grab bag that cost me next to nothing so no big deal. I still think they look cool.

Hi, robmck1967: I usually don't take too hard a look at sets. I'm surprised that all the years this one was lying about that I didn't notice it. I learned something here! Thanks, DBM
