Has any one tried the Whitman date transfer sheets to up date the dates/mint marks missing from some albums? I have a couple older Whitman albums (not the classic's) that have quite a few unlabeled openings.

Just wondering if any users have been satisfied using the transfer sheets with the gold lettering.

Has anyone else had good results using something like a gold fine point sharpie pen or a gold paint ball pen.

Also would be open to any other suggestions that people have been pleased with the results.

YES and I find them great. Some of the ones a long time ago were difficult to use since the plastic sheets were so vague it made transferring exactly difficult. The newer ones are on much clearer sheets so transferring is really easy. I use them all the time.
One problem is lack of all info. Many of the newer sheets are more for present years. For example if you used a blank page and wanted to add years such as 1843, you really have to use pieces of other dates such as a 1 from one year, 8 from anther, etc. I've written to Whitman to see if more detailed sheets are available but their answer is sort of not really.
I used them to add all the info in my Lincoln Cent Albums for all the 2009 types. No word on sheets for plated so had to use Clad for some of the ones. Having multiple Albums, I also use them on the front cover for Album numbers.

Thank you just carl. I will get a sheet then and try them. I mainly need them to add recent dates to a couple of albums.

Oooh, sounds good. I have a number of Whitman Classic albums that need some dates. Do you have a link to what you're going to buy?

What I was referring to were called Whitman transfer sheets and I found them listed on ebay. They had the gold lettering to match the albums. Price I think was about $4.87 plus a similar amount for shipping. I feel the postage price is a rip off and will look for them at a hobby store first.

Shouldn't cost more than 50 cents to mail them.

They come in packets of several sheets. Sometimes at coin stores or hobby stores they have them hanging there. Usually sort of cheap. Not sure about hobby lobby though since I never saw them at the one near me. One coin store near me has them all the time. I can't remember seeing them at coin shows though. For recent dates, they are great. If you get them, they usually come with a sort of popsicle stick for rubbing. I suggest if using those that you cut the ends to make a sharper tip so rubbing the info you want is easier and more accurate.

Thanks for the leads/ideas. With football season upon us, I find myself with lots of time to multitask.

Got a sheet of these in the mail today and I tried them out. I was satisfied with the results and would use them again. I would probably need about 4 or 5 more sheets to get everything caught up. I also wish there would have been more older dates than dates in the future.

justcarl: Thank you for your tip on sharpening the wooden stick to rub on the sheet. It made the job much easier especially when using the single digits at the top of the sheet to make extra year dates.

Took me a long time to figure that out too. And true sure would be great if they had a larger assortment of numbers and letters.
