The 2 looks to have a slightly tapered base. I've never read about a date variety for this coin, but the halves are not very well researched so it is possible that a die variety exists. The only problem is that the mint would of needed a different 2 punch from their normal 2 punch and would have needed to make another hub. Highly unlikely.
More likely the wear and tear of circulation has done this.

The 2 on 1929 below picture possible die happened in 1928 halfpenny?

Browse some photos on internet 1929 Halfpenny there are 2 as per photo above.

Yes, there seem to be 2 slightly different fonts. That needs more research.
