I received two recent date $20s with consecutive serial numbers, both star notes. I wanted to run it by the forum before spending them as usual. Anything special?

I would hold on to them. The star notes usually are worth a bit more IMHO. I am not a pro so wait and see what others say.

Between their being new (I assume both are crispy 2009 or 2013) and the fact they are consecutive you should be able to get some premium for them. A bit more if you wait a few years. Could you post the serial numbers for us? That way production run can be determined. If a shorter run, premium goes up a bit more. I'm sure you'd get ~$3 over face for the pair based on the information thats already known.

To my understanding sequential star note would command a higher premium than if you just had one.

Definitely hang on to them. You may want to check with your local coin place to see what their opinion would be. I wouldn't be surprised if the figure would was less than $60 for the pair with the price going up depending upon the district plus their condition, of course.

edit: Doubles (two) is always much better than one.

They are in perfect condition and from 2006, and the numbers are IL 05210780* and IL 05210781*.

There were 3 runs from the L district. The bills you have are from run number 2 with 3,200,000 printed that run. (03200001*-06400000*) This is a rather high run, so they probably won't have a huge premium.
