Please help with this. It is from a set issued by The Franklin Mint. This coin was recalled after issuing because it had the wrong Parliament Buildings? It is 1 troy ounce in its original packaging, never opened. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again

If you're implying that the Franklin Mint wanted to put Chateau Frontenac on the round, you are right in saying they messed up, looks more like a church if anything.
Wait....
I've actually been to that church, its Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupry, a very beautiful church. A few minutes from the city, but after Montmorency Falls.

I'm not sure what type of help you are seeking, but here are few notes about the medal that might be of interest:

- it was issued as part of a set in 1975-76
- it was sold on a subscription basis of one medal per month with delivery beginning in June 1975
- the set featured a medal for each province and territory of Canada at the time (10 and 2, respectively)
- the cost of each medal was $25
- each medal is sterling silver (0.925 fine silver)

Two things I will comment on but can't be certain of:

1) Unless you have documentation that indicates the medal is one troy ounce, I wouldn't necessarily assume that it is. Many Franklin Mint silver medals of the time were 39mm in diameter with weights that varied from about two-thirds of an ounce to just over an ounce. I would suggest weighing the medal and then multiplying it by 0.925 to come up with its actual silver weight.

2) I don't have any knowledge of a recall associated with the medal for displaying the "wrong" Parliament building. Each medal featured an outline map of the province/territory plus a distinctive symbol of it. The medal you have features the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré which is located on the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec. I don't believe that the Parliament of Canada building (home to the national Government) would have been used on a medal for an individual province. I'm guessing the "recall" you speak of is one of those urban myths that pop up in the coin hobby from time to time. (But I'm not sure, maybe others will comment.)

Thank you all for the response, the recall came from The Franklin Mint itself, but did not return it. I am looking to sell it, and was wandering if there was anything to it.

You could put it on ebay for a price you are willing to let it go for with your description of the story and see what happens...just don't start it low. If no one buys it then try again. or put in a high buy it now and accept offers.
