I recently received this coin. I understand the history behind it but I don't know what it is worth. Is it worth spot, or worth a little more? It is a oz silver Trade dollar from 1981. It is from the US assay office in San Francisco.

I don't know how to copy and past links on my tablet but as I started to type in assay office s.... into Google and San Francisco 1981 poped up.

It is just an art round according to conquest.com, so it is tied to the price of silver.

Well. It is not an art round. It was in the stockpile of the assay office and released into the open market to fight the price of silver.

My local coin shop has carried these before and sold them as regular 1 ounce silver rounds with other generic 1 ounce rounds/bars. So from what I have seen, just the spot price of silver plus whatever premium for generic 1 ounce items.
