This one is a prime candidate to get folded into another VAM. There's almost certainly an EDS without the feed finger damage, and that feature could also possibly be an unrecorded PUP from another known VAM.
Pretty uncommon, but that doesn't necessarily indicate added value. Not many people are so deep into VAMs that a 1921-P VAM-72A is going to be important on their radar. This one is a very late die state, as evidenced by the depth of the feed finger damage (the feeder had to pass over that part of the die a bazillion times to create that big a mark) and the grainy, crumbling look near the rim (especially around the date). As such, one wouldn't expect it to have struck thousands of examples at this stage.
