Another area I'm interested in focusing on are the Medusa/Gorgon coins. I just picked this one up. Feel free to post pics of yours. Silver-drachm, Apollonia Pontica in Thrace (present-day Sozopol, Bulgria), 450-375 BC.; diameter 13.5mm, weight 2.43 grams, obverse head of Medusa facing; reverse anchor, crawfish left, "A" right; very fine.

Nah...mine's the real thing. I would stake my (cough) reputation on it! Seriously though I am fairly confident of this one. Not that it's a guarantee, but it came from a good dealership too.

I ran across that link while researching mine before purchasing. I'm reasonably sure of the authenticity of mine, as well as they seller's reputation for knowing his business.

A personal favorite of mine! I love this coin, I'll never let it go. In person the coloration is a much darker black which creates a nice contrast.

Nice coin Arael. It's interesting that, to my eye at least, that piercing looks ancient too. How does it look to you?

Here's one I hadn't posted before. Roman Republic, moneyer L. Plautius Plancus 47 BCEAR Denarius, 3.79 gm Obv: L. PLAVTIVS; facing mask of Medusa, serpents at either side of face Rev: PLANCV; Aurora flying right and conducting the four horses of the sun. Banker's mark in left field. Ref: Plautia 15b Sear 429, Cr453/1b; Syd 959a. ex Jonathan K Kern Collection; formerly slabbed by NGC, XF, strike 5/5, surfaces 3/5, cert # 2400920-14While the banker's marks are unfortunate, at least the reverse mark is not marring the devices and its presence made the coin more affordable.

Quality. A VERY attractive coin (irrespective of the banker's mark). Green is a color that comes to mind, easily.
