Hello again all. This coin was a practise cleaning project and started life looking like a disk shaped stone. Now, although it is not in the greatest condition and is in fact quite difficult to photograph, I wondered if anyone had any ideas about it. The style and apparently blundered legends certainly make me think some kind of barbaric imitation. Helmeted Constantine and two victories?

What do others think and any ideas on the source if it is barbaric?

Definitely looks barbarous and like so many imitating an issue of the House of Constantine. Constantine or one of his heirs? I leave that to those who know the relevant issues better than me. But yes, it seems to be two victories standing judging by what are likely the arms (holding the vota sign), a shade of an altar seems to be visible as well.

You might be interested in this thread. I had been cleaning a coin which is almost identical to the one above, I don't have current pics of it.

Ahh yes, Pish Pash.....there are quite a few similarities to your example at that link. That isn't the same coin as the one in these photographs here is it? So at least I have a description for the coin.

Many thanks for digging out that old thread for me!

...and thanks for your input too Medieval.

No the coin in this post is one that I bought a few weeks ago. It is very similar to the one I already had which is partially cleaned. One day I will dig it out and finish the job :)
