Hey everyone. So I know the obvious sign of bronze disease, the powdery green-blue growths on the surface of a coin. I just wanted to know, what are some of the less obvious signs of a BD infection, including an infection that was treated and eventually "cured". Thanks.

One sign is that the surface of the coin can start to bulge outwards as the rot sets in within the core. I would never claim that the BD is cured, just temporarily under control. You have to keep checking your coins on a regular basis, even if they have never shown signs of BD.

If you have a look on the internet you will find images of the various stages.

a coin that has been treated for BD will sometimes have "pitting" on the surface where the bd damaged the patina.

here's one of my coins I treated for BD...notice the pits. the green stuff is solid and will not come off. I treated this coin with a distilled water soak and picking off the soft stuff. then baked in oven, followed by a verdi-care soak. I'm wathcing it like a hawk form now on.
