NZ Mint: Doctor Who 1/2 Oz Silver Twelfth Doctor Released

Doctor Who is currently the longest running and most successful science fiction television series of all time. Produced in Great Britain by the BBC, the programme depicts the adventures of a time travelling, humanoid alien known as the Doctor. Along with a succession of companions, the Doctor faces a variety of foes while working to help those with whom he comes in contact and right wrongs across the universe.

This coin, developed in collaboration between BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand, features a high quality colour reproduction of the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi. This is the latest release in the Doctor Who coin series from New Zealand Mint.

Issued by New Zealand Mint as legal tender under the authority of Niue Island, only 4,000 of each 1/2 oz silver proof coin design will be released worldwide.

Reverse Design
Each coin features a high quality colour reproduction of the Doctor. Behind him is a likeness of the Tardis engraved in 3-dimensional relief. This is surrounded by a finely engraved border design inspired by technology and time travel.

Obverse Design
Each coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Packaging

Each 1/2 oz Silver Coin is packaged in a blue presentation box with embossed silver foiled Doctor Who logo, and comes with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity issued by New Zealand Mint.
