Is there an easy way to identify the missing chrome variety mentioned on C&C? I was going through some loose place fillers I have and noticed this 1952 with some strange toning and noticeably duller appearance. With a lower grade coin that is chrome plated I would expect flaking but can see none. Do you think this was struck without the chrome?
After staring at it for quite some time I became suspicious of the tonning which is blueish in color which made me start to think that it may have be exposed to very high temperatures. I think someone tried to remove the chrome with heat and now the steel shows the effects of it, I have binned it. Thanks for the replies
