Trying to learn correct terminology for mint errors.
On this 35 silver dollar, would the area on the rim where it is separated be called a lamination error? Also there is a solid piece of metal between the bottom of the canoe and the WL. What is this known as? What would be the cause of these?
Hope some of our more knowledgable members can help.

Nothing note worthy, I see this often. I think it was just how they were struck. Here is the most recent 1935 I sold, you can see the same thing on the rims.

Can you post an image of the full coin?

Here is the full image. Very similar to yours. I also sent the obverse side which has a hairline die crack. (I marked it because it was hard to see).

I can't see the crack very well but it almost looks like the crack was in the planchet not the die.

Some people would call it Cuds. not to rare at all. But an overall nice coin!

Thanks for the info guys.
Just wondering how this affects the value?
I intend to keep it because it is different from my other 35's bust just curious.

Rims like that are related to "Railroading"
Metal chunks are called cuds----debris from striking process or planchets.

It is so common with this date that I can't see any reason it would demand a premium.

Thanks for the help.
Have heard of a " Cud" but never "railroading" in reference to a mint error.
