I am not sure if this counts, but my LCS will often give me interesting change when I make a purchase. Today, he gave me slick 1900 V nickel in my change. Another time there was a 1946 Jefferson nickel, and a about a year ago, there was a gold plated Virginia State Quarter in my change from him. I guess when you run a coin shop, you end up with an excess of things like these, and I am very appreciative to get these unexpected items for face value.

I think it counts because your LCS is circulating those coins. I like that they do that. They may not be worth a lot but at least they go to someone who has some interest in them. I set aside star notes that don't have a lot of serious collector value to use at coin shows just so that the dealers can give them out as change to their customers. I think it's probably fun for their young customers. Maybe.

I went on vacation the past few days and received a 2009-d virgin islands quarter. Also not a in circulation find but I have to share it. In a parking lot on the ground I found a 1941 Wheat cent.

Last night at work I opened a roll of nickels and there was a 1935 buffalo in there and snatched it up.

Found this earlier in the week. Not overly exciting, except it's not a circulation coin. Steve

I was on a day trip to France yesterday (I live nearer to France than to London!) and I got this in change. It's the first Vatican coin I've ever found in the wild! (I did get two 2015 Vatican 50c coins for face value from the Post Office inside the Vatican in 2016, but only by asking specially for them).

Nice find NumisRob. Where do you live. I'm an old Surrey boy. Now living in Perth, Australia.

Today I found this 1976-S silver proof quarter in the reject bin of a Coinstar machine. I'm 95% sure it's silver anyway. My scales aren't very accurate, but it weighs 5.81 grams while a normal clad quarter weighs 5.71 grams. It has fingerprints but is in good shape otherwise.
