I keep reading about Aussies finding Fiji coins, so I assume Fiji is nearby Australia. Many years ago I taught geography, but I can't remember for sure where Fiji is located, and I guess I'm too lazy to run to the encyclopedia. Seems to me it's east of Australia, and somewhere near New Guinea. Are Fifi coins attractive? Fish and other sea creatures depicted on them?

This is the Ben Franklin Founding Father Commem, and yes I own it. It is part of the 2006 American Legacy 12 coin set that is now sold out I believe. It includes the 10 coin proof coinage, the Founding Father proof, and the San Fransisco Mint proof. It actually a very nice set in a very nice display folder. My avatar is of the reverse, and such small pics doesn't do it justice. I have been procrastinating in starting my image gallery here. The best pic I have found so far is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-BEN-FRANKL...OF_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/120097764308 target= _blank rel= nofollow 120097764308 /a QQcategoryZ41108QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Dockwalliper: "Found a '63D Rosey along with 2 Canadian dimes and a Canadian nickel in the CoinStar the other day."
Exactly how do you find things in a CoinStar? Aren't those the coins in the supermarket that people dump coins into and it charges them 10%?

Fiji is about 3000KM east of Brisbane, so it's quite a distance away. But it's closer than Suva to Port Moresby (Fijian and PNG capitals respectively).

I work in a store and a few weeks ago one of my customers payed with all Kennedy halfs, a total of 13, one was a 1964 and the rest all different and in great condition. I guess he got them out of a collection at home.

I had to put a $5 bill in the change machine at work and a 1945P nickel was the surprise that came out.

janknez, you can find interesting things like that in the machine's reject tray. It automatically rejects anything that isn't composed of the materials of a coin currently circulating, which is why it rejects silver dimes/nickels/quarters, and coins from other countries. And I think it only charges you like 5%, but I still wouldn't use one of those.

Thanks, Tim, for the info on Coin Star. I guess next time I'm at the Kroger, I'll have to check the reject bin. No, I wouldn't use one either. And -- I've had two interesting finds this week. In change, a 1955-D wheatie, and on the table of used books for sale at our little local library -- a 1968 Red Book. Cost me 25 cents. Jan
