thingee, no, I've yet to see a coinstar in any of the branches around here. I sure wish they did cuz that would make it much easier on everyone.
Hey Mila, When you list those pennies and nickels, are those like in AU condition? I was just curious b/c I just wrapped up about $9 in pennies, and I'm sure a couple were from the 60s, though they weren't even close to even Good condition given their age.

tights24.. No, I got them from my local supermarket. The owner is always willing to give me as many rolls as I want.
thomas_z71.. I don't know much about grading. However, some of them looks as if they were found on a construction site.. A little water rinse would remove the loose dirt.

Had to share this one with y'all. Bought a few groceries this afternoon, and when I checked my change after I got back to them house, I found a 1950 D Jefferson nickel. I think it looks to be in pretty good shape for having come out of a cash register drawer. I'm gonna head over to the grading section, and try to get some opinions on the grade. I'm happy to have found it because the other one I have is not nearly so nice. Hi guys. This site the last thing I need. The most interesting things I have found lately are a few wheats and a silver Roosevelt a few years ago. Latest good finds were a 1936-A 5 mark 3rd Reich silver coin in foreign coin box at a dealer's (.4 oz. silver for $.40) and I also have a Mexico 10 peso 1993 that I have had for years and didn't know the bicolor coin's center was over .1 oz silver. I didn't think general circulation silver coins were made much after 1970 until now 1992 - 1995 and possibly 1996 10 and 20 peso coins had silver centers. I was going to spend mine down there in May but changed my mind after I found this out. I will be looking for them instead down there.

nds76,
Yes, I think it's a pretty cool find, too. I've been adding to my circulated Jefferson collection for the past couple of years strictly out of my pocket change, and I've been able to fill 112 holes; however, this is probably the nicest one I've found, and being a 1950 D..... Under a magnifying glass, it shows 5 full steps, and the mint luster doesn't apear to be impaired. No doubt spent by someone with little or no knowledge about coin collecting, who saw it as just another nickel - lucky for me that they did.

Today was such a beautiful day, so my wife and I decided to do a little yard work. While digging a new flower bed I noticed a penny in the dirt. I picked it up and was surprised to find a 1950 P Wheat cent. I could only imagine what I would have found if I had a metal detector.

I found my 1st 2007 penny along with a 1969s that looks just as good as the 2007. It must have been sitting somewhere for over 3 decades not circulating. It will now be in my collection not circulating.

I have made a few cool finds so far this year. I search a $500 brick of halves each week. This year has yielded two Walkers (37-D and 41), three Franklins (2 63-Ds and a 61) a few 64 Kennedys and about two rolls of 40% clads. Also a 1986-D Statue of Liberty half and a few proofs and 2005 Ps and Ds. I have been doing this for about 6 years. Oldest so far-1917 Walker. Newest-2005 Kennedy. Best Price-1996-S Olympic Swimming half that I sold for $75. I have also found coins from England, Ireland and Panama along with the occasional casino token. Recent circulation finds have included two silver Washington quarters (54 and 64), a few Wheat cents, some 40s-50s Jeffersons and an impaired proof 69-S quarter. A few years ago, my girlfriend got an 1893 Indian Head cent from the grocery store. My luck isn't that good! ~Jim
