From grandfather's collection, I have a bunch of Lincoln cents. Three of them have ray-like lines coming out of Lincoln's head and some appear to be woody. The first 1961 and the 1964 both look like they have doubled dates and mint marks as well as the area around the coat and up to Lincoln's chin - but I'm not totally sure in all lights!
I think that such cents are only worth something if in mint condition, as these are not!
Interesting coins for sure. Took me a bit to see the rays but for not having in hand and under magnification I did eventually see them. As far as condition they are a bit rough. MS60 at best to me. The 61D also seems to have ray-like doubling by his forehead and nose. As far as being woody I don't see it as I understand it but never having seen one in hand I'm certainly no authority. Error coin may be a possibility but not really sure. The coins to me would definitely be keepers but thats me. I do agree with your conclusion about these coins.
