OK, I generally hate colorized coins because they generally look like gaudy, tasteless, tacky crap. And this one is definitely overpriced in my opinion. But I have to say I REALLY love the way it looks:

I agree, that's a looker!

Let me know when it goes on sale for about $39.99 and I'll be picking one up for myself ...

Well, $39.99 is still a bit too steep in my opinion, but if it were $29.99...

Okay, that is pretty neat.

But if I had $99, I would rather get a second 50th Anniversary Kennedy Silver set.

I....really like that coin. It's gorgeous, and the added metals actually offer a certain value. Ruthenium isn't cheap.

Not a fan, personally. Still never seen a painted coin I'd pay more than face value for.

I like the coin. Not sure I would pay for it, but nice to look at.

It's not painted, but plated. Big difference. Still too high pricewise, but very cool looking. Anything under $40 would get me a lot more interested.

Exactly. That's why I said "colored" instead of "painted."

I think it is technically plated on top of a normal 2014 ASE. It still looks pretty cool though.

Do a little research on Ruthenium... Can be had for a pretty reasonable price at the moment. Might just have to pick some up myself

It looks really nice, but I think it would look even better if LIBERTY was in gold also. Both "2014" and "IGWT" are in gold, so if LIBERTY were also in gold then it would look more complete or finished, IMO. I'm gonna see if any of these have made their way to the bay yet.

EDIT: Found one!

Poor wording on my part, but I'm still not a fan. To me the appeal of coins is in the metal work. Added coloring detracts from that, regardless of the method used.

Of course that's merely my opinion on it. I also don't like tomatoes on my sandwiches.

Cost of the material isn't that relevant as the amount used is minuscule. the real cost is in the preparation. Looks nice, but would look better if LIBERTY was gold too. Would also be better if they used gold on the reverse.
