Hi all, I looked through the forums and I could only find topics from 2 years ago about the 7070 updating. I looked on ebay and there was only a couple and all were a lot more than I was looking to spend on an album... Does anyone have any current info about the 7070 Type Dansco album? Collecting one of each coin is one of my main goals, therefore this album is a must. And Dansco website still says it is updating its albumm. Thank you!

You could always do a virtual 7070 until one shows up. I use Lighthouse trays (similar to below, there are lots of sizes and styles at various coin supply dealers) to hold my PCGS slabs while they are nestled in a Pelican case.

I guess my main question then is why do they seem to be so rare? Did Dansco say they would update it a couple years ago then they became scarce because they haven't been sold since? It seems like it would be a super popular album with plenty to go around but I seem to be mistaken...

I just recently bought (and started..YIPEE) one on Amazon, and it was pricey but I have always wanted to start one so I bit the bullet. Dansco is just slow at making a new one. Somewhere on this forum is a thread someone started and everyone that wanted to "play" guessed the month and year the new one will be released. It wass fun reading the guesses.

Mister Kairu, I also don't understand why they can't get the 7070 back into print. I supposed they can't decide how to rearrange the pages to accommodate all of the modern issues (formative years cents, statehood vs. ATB Quarters, etc...). In my opinion, since they already have all of the brand-new issues accounted for in the denomination-specific albums, they should start publishing the same 7070 that they were beforehand to satify demand. Then, since "Modern Issues" page is pretty sparse, and I think a simple re-design of that page further down the road would sufficiently accommodate most of the new releases. However, times are sweet for those of us who happened to have had an extra one lying around ... I had a spare 7070 that an elderly gentleman had treated rather roughly (number the pages, scratched the inserts). I repaired what I could and listed on ebay, pointing out all flaws honestly, and it sold for about $60! I wish I had bought a crate-load back when they were $24.95 brand-new ...

Yeah I just don't understand why a seemingly super popular one would take that long to update. Not the best business scheme (even after understanding they wouldn't want to make an update every year (although people would buy them still)) :P

What's crazy is that they could probablty relaunch it at double price and it would still sell well. I'm also surprised Whitman hasn't tried to fill in this obvious hole in the market.

Maybe Whitman is in talks to acquire the coin album line from Dansco. Perhaps part of the negotiation has Whitman agreeing not to create competing albums. All wild speculation, of course.

It is true Dansco is still making money. And who knows they may leave the update for a while still to continue building up the hype... for me it is working.

What I think is even more crazy is that Dansco doesn't even have a website.
I overheard the LCS owner complaining about Dansco and how it wasn't the same since the son took over management of the company. Not sure if there is any truth to that.

There was a used 7070 just listed an hour or so on ebay with a 99 cent start price. When I saw it there were still no bids. Not sure how high it will go. Any guess's

I'm currently using an Intercept Shield Type Album. It works ok, but some of the holes are different sizes than the coins so you have to neatly open them up. I am a poor college student so I went the cheap route on the album so I could spend more money on coins.

I am beginning to doubt if there ever will be an updated 7070. Yes, there are some of us that would scoop one up immediately, but is there really a large demand for them? Would it be worth it for Dansco to invest in a re-do? Are slabbed coins taking over the market share from the album?
