What happens when good coins go bad? This (genuine coin/genuine seller) popped up for sale on ebay. (Keep the tissues handy.) Edited by Topcat7 11/11/2014 7:20 pm

Yes sir. There is enough there that I would be happy with it. At least this you have the [C]AESA[R]. Most of the trounced serpent and you can see clearly 2 out of 3 instruments. I'm good with it for the right price.

Personally, I would rather have a more attractive but less sought after coin, of equal value.
Why don't we have a competition to see who can guess closest to the final selling price. May I suggest a rule that all entries must be in during the next 72hours, before the bidding really gets underway.
I don't think it is worth it, but knowing how these things go, my guess is £51.

As much as I want one of these, it's just too ugly even for me.

I am in agreement with the guys and you could do better with the same money on a much better condition not so sought after coin....but....if you want a JC the get your JC. Just get a real one, and collect what you like and what you want.
my guess would be 62,84 GBP

Completely agree with your last statement ANoob. I just stated my preference, but think everyone has there own way and one is no better than another.
Not sure how true it is, but when I was a child I was told by a coin dealer that if you are making an investment then it is best to buy coins in the best condition you can afford....that an exceptional condition but more common coin has more upside than a grotty but rare coin. Because I was young it was a statement that made its mark on me.
My personal taste is to value the aesthetic appearance of a coin quite highly too, but that's just my way of collecting.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if my estimated turns out to be too low. People go all gooey just because it's Julius. But I will stick to it. So what is your guesstimate TC?

I (recently) had the great misfortune to be the losing bidder at GBP87.50 for a 'good' one that went for GBP89.50.
Since then they have all gone for around GBP115 - GBP195.
But since I am NOT bidding on this one it will probably only go to around GBP30. (Time will tell.)
Personally,I would rather look at my GBP5 'Tourist' coin in my collection, than look at this one, there.

P.P., A.N. - It sounds like you want me to go after it? O.K. I will. Now how much?

Knowing that every coin is only worth what it is worth to you, well....to me.....I wouldn't want to pay more than £40 MAX for it. Even then I would be in two minds.
But knowing that many others would feel quite differently, I wouldn't even try for it. It'll be interesting to see what it does go for. Are you seriously going to try TC?

Yes, why not?
P.P. & A.N. both seem to think I should have a go, so I will.
