Hello;
There is a coin show locally this weekend. There will be graders there from ANACS? I was wondering if anyone has done this on site at a show. For example, what do they charge, do they do it and slab it right then etc... I have about 6 uncirculated Morgans and thought about getting them slabbed to see what grade they end up. I'm putting together a date set but not going to use a book to hold them so that part doesn't matter. I just got three slabbed ones today and was thinking I may slab all the nicer ones. Thanks

the size of the show usually dictates the number of graders a TPG bring to do onsite grading; sometimes they are only there to accept submissions. Onsite grading is the most expensive way to get coins slabbed. The actual cost can generally be found on the individual company sites. The coins also have to be submitted by certain deadlines to get graded onsite. A much, much more economical solution would be to submit the coins for grading at the show and then just have to pay return shipping.

Seeing as the 3 slabbed ones are NGC, you might want to submit to them to make them all the same.

Yes, I have submitted at a show. Typically they do not grade on site. Except maybe at the huge shows like the FUN show and the like. You simply save the cost and trouble of shipping. They also tend to have discounts. If you have more than 3 or four coins, this is really a good way of doing it.

Depending on level of activity, at times they will look at a given number of coins and give you an "estimate" of a grade (and give you a sanity check on your grading prowess). I went to the 75th Anniversary Dalton, GA show back in April and the ANACS grader went through quite a number of coins I had with me and gave me his grade estimates on them. It was early on the first day of the show and the bourse traffic was light. Depends on the circumstances, I suppose. PG

I have never seen ANACS slab at a show. They typically do however give you a "show discount" break on grading services and you do not have to incur shipping charges to them as they take your coin at the show. Depending on the show NGC & PCGS will do slabbing at the shows if they are submitted early enough.

In my experience ANACS only shows up at the large shows.
(DEFINITION: Large Show = 100 plus dealers)
And, no, they don't grade and slab at the show; too much equipment to haul around.
Smokeriderdon covers the cost and convenience pretty well.
